How About Some Funny News Today?

I was watching the Saturday edition of Good Morning America this morning and got a chuckle from this story : a serial car burglar who gets his just desserts. Here's another one : Don't steal a snowmobile... And more dumb criminal stories. I have a few chores waiting for me this morning - I'm upset with them so I think I'll make them wait a little longer! LOL! Only one chore is seriously in need of attention and that is to mail a package this morning. But my coffee is calling me...

Another Birthday

This time, it was mine. I won't tell you the number - LOL! It was a nice, quiet, uneventful day. The kids stopped by with some gifts for me: candles and candle holders, a lovely mug for my morning coffee at the office and a cute little picture panel to hang in my cubicle - giraffes, of course. Today is a nice quiet day too. I'm in the process of sprucing up our kitchen. My husband and son helped me paint the walls last week. Today, I'm going to paint the cabinets. I also have plans to work on my afghan, and to upload some photos onto my digital picture frame. Back to work...

Justin's First Birthday

Image
Yesterday was Justin's first birthday. The kids took him to Chuck E. Cheese for lunch. And they will have a party for him at his other Grammy's house today. I can't wait to see him again. I babysat for him the other night. I can't believe how he's grown. I still remember January 15 last year when we were at the hospital, peering at him through the nursery window. The other day the time I spent with him while babysitting was special. I wish that I could have bottled it and whenever I needed a boost, I could open it and relive it. It started when I walked in and got a huge smile from him. I've probably already mentioned that he is a big Sesame Street fan. We watched some Sesame Street, played with his toys from Christmas, and he sat on the couch next to me with my arm around him for the longest time. Then when I thought he might be getting tired, he lay down on the couch covered with his favorite blankie. I rubbed his little feet for him, counting his ...

Haitian Earthquake Relief

I've been watching the news lately, viewing the destruction to the property and the lives of the people in Haiti. My prayers to out for those who were killed, those who remain alive and have nothing left, and for those in other countries who don't know whether their family and friends are dead or alive. How sad that it. This is a link to the Red Cross website. From here, you can make a donation. Those will cell phones can also make a $10 donation to Haiti relief by texting HAITI to 90999. The charge will be added to your cell phone bill and the donation forwarded to the Red Cross.

Quick Update

Things are going better for me - I'm about to leave for work this morning. Just wanted to say I picked up yarn and hook and actually started something with it yesterday! I feel like I'm starting to get back to my new self again! LOL! My project will be a simple round ripple using Caron One Pounders in white and a lovely shade of lavender. It's what drew me to the project to begin with. Hopefully, I'll have some baby afghans to send to Kathryn for the NICU unit. I wish I had been able to send some in 2009 but it didn't happen. Looking forward to a new and better 2010!

Christmas Idol

I just wanted to share this. Radio station B101 held a contest called Christmas Idol before the holidays. They invited local schools to send recordings of their choirs/chorale groups singing Christmas carols. Two groups would perform and the listeners would vote for the one they liked best. That group would then go on to compete against a new group. I just want to share with you the second place chorale group. I would have given them first place for sure. They are from the Academy of Notre Dame High School. They sing like angels!

Into The Wild Blue Yonder

I was up very late last night, so I put in the CD that came with my Discovery Flight kit. I think I'm excited about trying this! If the introductory flight doesn't prove to be overwhelming (which I don't expect it to), I honestly think I'd like to pursue flying lessons and get a private pilot's license. I am psyched (not psycho)! No thoughts of becoming a professional. It would just be fun to invite my BFF to take a flight with me now and then. Or just go sightseeing from the air. My husband has already told me not to expect him to accompany me. That's okay - I've already told him I won't be joining him under the sea. I think I got the bug to fly when I made arrangements to take my husband and sons on a sightseeing tour in a small aircraft at a local airport. None of them had ever flown before. DH stayed on the ground, but my sons went with me. I was amazed at the visibility - being able to see from the air places that were an hour or more awa...
